Kidambi Srikanth is the biggest promise of Indian badminton having started to stand out a little later than most of the great players, not having great achievements as a junior but even then at 22 years old he was already among the best in the world.
His success in 2017 and 2018 made him reach first place in the world ranking, which caused euphoria among Indian fans, who didn’t have a player to reach this place in a long time.
In terms of international achievements, he still has any medals on big competitions (is also the misfortune of having older players that are authentic legends of the sport) but it is worth noting that in 2017 he managed to win four Superseries tournaments, thus equaling the record had only been reached by Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long.
Kidambi Srikanth is expected to cement its position as the top 5 in the world ranking in the next few years.
